Edwards was a sleazy Presidential candidate, a lousy husband and a so-so Senator. But there was never a doubt, ever ,that he was a savy, polished and extremely effective plaintiffs' personal injury trial attorney. In his home state of North Carolina, insurance companies, large corporations, municipalities, doctors and hospitals feared John Edwards. He made a fortune representing the " little man" and bringing back numerous multi-million dollar verdicts! He was the best in the state, and a member nationally of the truly elite trial lawyers.
Hey, Edwards is 60. As a trial lawyer he is in his prime. He'll take a little time to get back in the swing...Then watch out! I know one group who are not happy to see his comeback. Yes, you said it. The Insurance companies of the great state of North Carolina.
John, I wish you good luck and many more plaintiffs' verdicts!!!!1

Edwards Case in The Hands Of The Jury....We Know He's a Sleezebag...But Did He Violate Federal Law?
So the testimony wrapped up. Closing arguments were given and the Judge instructed the jury on the applicable Law . Yes, that's right. The Judge instructed the jury on the law . In this case, almost one of first impression, the verdict will certainly hinge on the jurors determining what the billionaire heiresses intent was when she gave about $725,000 to Edwards.
If the jury finds beyond a reasonable doubt that one of her purposes in giving the money was to influence an election, then that would be sufficent to convict . Of significance, is that Ms. Mellon declared the payment to be a gift, and actually paid a gift tax on it. Was she helping Edwards cause she was enamored with him or was she trying to "influence" an election, whether it be the primary or the General Election down the road.
Going to be very difficult for the jury to creep into the mind of the donor , decide her intent and render a sustainable verdict. In my opinion, there is not enough evidence in front of the jury regarding Ms. Mellon's intent. Without these proofs, it would appear to be next to impossible to meet that "beyond a reasonable doubt" burden.
My prediction, Edwards is acquitted or if convicted by the Jury, the verdict is tossed on post-trial motion.
Your thoughts.

Celebrity Justice ; Edwards Trial, Who is Less Credible Edwards or Andrew Young? And How About Clemens Trial,Clemens or Brian McNamee?
As you probably know, the criminal trials of Roger Clemens and John Edwards are both taking place at the same time . Many similarities in the two cases. Both bigger than life personalities. Both hugely successful. Both rich! Each one with an "enlarged ego ". Each one had full control over the decisions that were made that landed them in their respective messes!
So while the 2 prosecutions really only affect Clemens and Edwards, the trials are intriguing nonetheless. And yes, each could and probably will serve time if convicted!
So where will these prosecutions be one won or lost ? As usual , on the testimony of the cooperating witnesses . In Edwards, much of the case will hinge on who do you believe, Edwards or Andrew Young ? Neither did you say? In Clemens , Brian McNamee or Clemens ? Is anyone, anywhere telling the truth ?
So right now both defense teams will be taking their collective whacks at the "star witnesses" on cross-examination , and then after all the smoke clears the decisions have to be made as to whether Clemens and Edwards will testify.
My predictions; Clemens and Edwards both take the stand . They somehow both believe the jurors will believe them and only them. Hey, at lot at stake here.
Neither would look particularly good in stripes(not pinstripes you nitwit!). Should be entertaining.

John Edwards' Troubles Continue ..Chief Lieutenant ,Andrew Young Details Affair, Coverup, etc !
John Edwards had a difficult day on trial yesterday. Former top aide, Andrew Young testified in glaring detail about Edwards' affair, payment of hush money by a rich benefactor , transfer of the monies , cover-up, hiding , possible blackmail and Edwards' direct involvement . Not pretty. But of course that was Young testifying on direct examination(not yet cross-examined by defense lawyers) and with " full immunity " .
To me the big question here is not whether Edwards' was (and is ) a sleazebag, not whether he was dishonest, not whether he was a horndog and not whether he cheated on his dying wife while running for the Presidency !
The only question is after sifting through all these ugly details, is whether he violated Federal Election Law? Will a North Carolina jury convict the "Golden Boy " in his home state ?
I'm not so sure....Your thoughts ?

John Edwards' Pe__ker Getting Him in Trouble Again!
Well, one good thing former Senator Edwards has going for him, is that his first name ,"John" matches exactly what he's accused of doing. Yes, being a "John " . Edwards has been mentioned as being a customer of "Millionaire Madam" , Anna Gristina . Edwards, whose life has flipped upside down in recent years , allegedly "hooked "up with a " high-end lady of the night " while in New York during his Presidential Campaign "swing " several years ago. Swing being the key word here .
I can just see see his exchange with his Secret Service team leader.
Edwards: I have a meeting in an hour to work on my oral skills.
Team Leader: Should I send a detail ? You know I have to stay " on top of things ".
Edwards: Don't worry I'll stay " on top of things "!
Team Leader : Mr. Edwards: Is this going to be like Indiana where you said you were going to the basketball courts to work on your "inside game "?
Edwards: I actually did need work on my "lay-ups".
Team Leader: Or San Jose , where you said you wanted to go in through the " back door " of that .....Or Nome, Alaska, where you wanted to travel "doggie-style"?
Edwards: ok, I get the point . You know afterall, I am in New York to "raise"......
Team Leader: Money Mr. Edwards sir.
Edwards: Hey, can you lend me some cab fare I'm late ....And, hmmm, the Secret Service Platinum Card. Thanks . And remember I snuck out on official ("monkey") business.

John Edwards; The Free Fall from Stature Continues....
Never , ever get "too full of yourself", because as many have harshly learned those "on top of the world " are sometimes one mis-step from a "free fall" to the bottom. We have seen it on Wall Street, in religious circles, in politics, show business, sports and almost every sector of life . Here today, gone tommorrow.
Well, John Edwards' fall strikes me as an exceptional decline, in large part because of the respect he had from so many and his striking accomplishments professionally. Edwards was a renowned plaintiff's trial lawyer in North Carolina . He was feared by defense attorneys and insurance companies alike due to his oratorical skill, his good looks , old style southern charm in front of a jury and his "pit bull perseverence" and his unwavering will to win and fear of losing. He amassed a small fortune through his verdicts and settlements. He later went on to become a United States Senator.
But with all his successes , he suffered plenty of grief and heartache . He lost his son in 1996. His wife endured a long, grueling and debilitating bout with cancer. He appeared from a public eye to stand firmly behind her and their bout against the devastating disease.
So where did things start to unravel for him? The affair, the denial, the lies...the coverup. Hush $, living expenses for the mother and child . Secrecy...still he had presidential aspirations and was involved in the fight of his life.
How could it all happen? My opinion? Edwards, despite all his successes was lonely for intimacy, companionship and a relationship. What a terrible time for him not to be able to control his urges. Was he in love, lust...who knows. It's irrelevant now . His wife of so many years has since passed away. His reputation has been tarnished forever.
Could things get worse? Well yesterday they just did ! Edwards was indicted under a novel application of the Federal Election Law . The Feds say he used $ from benefactors to cover up his affair which served to aid his campaign...Thus the alleged violation of the Federal Election Law.
He has plead not guilty, hired heavywieght defense lawyer Greg Craig and (with his daughter at his side ) has vowed to fight this. Going to be an interesting proceeding.
Hey let's face with. Now,Edwards only has his children, law license(plenty of $) and pride left...Oh yes, and for now his freedom to fight for.
John, you did it to yourself...Not a lot of sympathizers out there!
